Did you know that the Lauder Institute offers a joint degree with the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School? Current JD/MA student Manuel Diaz Corrada and alumnus Frank DeSimone (L’15, G’15) are interviewed about their experience.

Students enrolled in this joint degree program obtain their JD and their Master’s in International Studies in only three years. Corrada says that the additional perspectives and experiences at Lauder have augmented his time as a law student, noting that Lauder’s tight-knit community is filled with people that are “adventurous, international, and ambitious.” DeSimone highlights Lauder’s emphasis on global and intercultural education, saying that the program “really empowers and enables students to understand how to navigate the unexpected, read cultural cues, and adapt to different situations.”

He says a “great thing I did at Penn was pursuing a joint degree program with the Lauder Institute. Lauder is a program that works with both Wharton and the law school and offers a second degree, which is a Master’s in International Studies. I had worked abroad prior to coming to law school for a law firm in Parisa. So, I had developed that international interest and a language ability that I really wanted to hone. Language skills are so important in today’s world. They can set you out of the pack when it comes time for job interviews.”
