Culture Quest 2019

The 2019 Culture Quest started in the bustling capital city of Colombo, where the group excursion featured a visit to the Sri Lanka National Museum. After learning about the multi-cultural history of this small island nation, the group toured the city, and since Sri Lanka is known for its Ceylon tea ended the outing with a tea tasting. The quest started and ended in Colombo, so teams took a circular route to discover the country. The five teams managed to pack of lot of activities into their short time in Sri Lanka from exploring the beautiful countryside to visiting beaches and vibrant cities. They competed for points in the historical city of Kandy, visited a variety of colorful Temples, went on a safari in the Udawalawe National Park, and of course toured a tea plantation. They also took a cooking class and learned about the blend of Indian, Indonesian and Dutch cuisines that makes the local dishes so tasty. And while this quest didn’t offer the chance to crash a wedding – a CQ tradition, it did allow the teams many opportunities to interact the people of Sri Lanka and to learn firsthand about the traditions of the country.
