A group of Lauder students based in China: Wai Cheng, Vicky Chen, and Daniel Miao (G’22, WG’22), developed their own informal Shanghai immersion before their Lauder virtual pre-term courses started. By reaching out to the alumni network of Penn, Wharton, and Lauder, they were able to spend several days meeting with companies such as an education start-up, a drone company, a clean-tech VC, a podcasting company, and a global food corporation.
The students also had two dinners with Lauder alumni, where alumni shared their perspectives about their experiences and careers. The students reported back that they enjoyed engaging with the tight-knit alumni community, spending time with one another before their pre-term session started, and considering cultural learnings along the way. Despite the challenges of current times, we congratulate these students on maintaining their Lauder community spirit!
