Global Business Forums

Penn Lauder CIBER co-sponsors the annual Global Business Forum, a two-day conference organized by Wharton graduate students. This event combines five separate international student-run conferences, each with a focus on a different world region: Africa, Asia, Europe, India, and Latin America.

Each year the Global Business Forum offers the opportunity for global business, government, and academic leaders to exchange ideas regarding current economic, political, and social trends that are shaping the international investment environment for an audience of students and local business practitioners. Through panels focused on specific themes and regions, participants address emerging business themes and opportunities and investigate the latest technological developments and their applications in a global business environment. Penn Lauder CIBER assists in recruiting speakers and provides funds to support conference activities. This conference brings together over 1,000 students, business and government leaders, alumni, scholars, and members of the local business community.

Washington, DC
Penn Lauder CIBER also collaborates on planning and sponsoring other student-organized events, including the daylong Global Leadership Forum, now held annually in April in Washington, DC. This event marks a major cooperative endeavor by students in the Wharton and Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) graduate programs. Highlights include briefings by policymakers, diplomats, and journalists on key policy issues that affect international business.

New York City
In Fall 2004, in a new collaboration with Columbia's CIBER and the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), the Global Leadership Forum event expanded to include an event in New York City (free and open to the public). This forum featured speakers from the United Nations Global Compact, the UN Millennium Development Goals, and the Canadian Permanent Mission. The speakers addressed public/private partnerships, the UN Millennium Development Goals, and the UN political agenda and peacekeeping.
